Salted Caramel Bliss Balls

Salt + caramel is a match made in heaven. It’s just so moorish. And the good news, it can be healthy!

To get the caramel taste, I’ve combined two simple and healthy ingredients - tahini (ground sesame seeds) with maple syrup.

Psst..My kids call tahini + honey/maple syrup, “caramel sauce” and they love it on toast or in wrap bread!

So without further ado, here’s the salted caramel bliss ball recipe! It contains no dates or nuts, so it’s safe for children over 12 months and can be enjoyed at childcare centres/schools!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups oats

  • 2 cups coconut flakes

  • 2 tablespoons hulled tahini (for a nut version, cashew nut butter is delicious here!)

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 2 tablespoons ghee (or coconut oil/macadamia oil)

  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon powder

  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla bean paste

  • 2 pinches fine sea salt/Himalayan salt

  • Optional - 30 grams finely grated chocolate or 2 tablespoons of cacao powder to roll the balls in

Method:

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth

  2. Roll into bite-size balls and put in the fridge to ‘set’ for at least 10 minutes

  3. If you’d like to roll the balls in grated chocolate or cacao powder, do it now!

  4. Enjoy!
